Horizons for Youth is more than just a scholarship and mentoring program. It's a community. It's a social network. It's an extended family.
Child Enrichment Outings
Each month, all of our mentors and participants join together for a group outing. Sometimes we have a picnic. Sometimes we catch a ballgame. And sometimes we clean up a park or pack food for a shelter. No matter the activity, however, it's always rewarding.
These monthly enrichment outings are designed to expose our students to different experiences while supporting the mentoring relationship. Recent outings have included trips to:
- Lincoln Park Zoo
- Morton Arboretum
- Chicago Botanical Gardens
- Tales as Old as Africa at DePaul's Merle Reskin Theatre
- Ice skating at Daley Bicentennial Plaza
- Bowling and Indoor Miniature Golf
- Horizons for Youth Game Day
