On Cloud Nine was founded in 2001 to honor the memory of Paige Barnett, who passed away on February 2, 2000 at the age of 18 months. The event, established by Paige’s parents, Kent Barnett and Lauren Heath, supports the children of Horizons for Youth. On Cloud Nine also now pays tribute to Lauren Heath, who passed away in July of 2015, after a courageous battle with brain cancer.

Kent Barnett discusses Lauren’s Hope on the Weekly Show with Brooke Hunter.
For the next two years, the focus of Lauren’s Hope will be on education, with the primary goals of:
Lauren and her husband, Kent Barnett, founded the On Cloud Nine gala in 2001 to honor the memory of their daughter, Paige, who unexpectedly lost her life in 2000 at only 18 months old, and to support the children of Horizons for Youth.
Through her involvement with Horizons for Youth, Lauren spent nearly two decades working to help Chicago children achieve their full potential. Lauren passed away in July 2015 after a courageous 18-month battle with brain cancer, and her legacy lives on through this initiative.
A devoted mother and advocate for children, Lauren was especially moved by the need for greater educational and economic opportunities in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood, located less than a mile from her home in Oak Park. While she was fighting cancer, Lauren grew determined to energize her friends and family to address the issue.
The Lauren’s Hope initiative honors Lauren’s dreams for a brighter future for the children and families of the Austin neighborhood.
Grow Austin from within by listening and working with its residents through a long-term, multi-generational commitment.
To collaborate with individuals, families and organizations in order to increase and accelerate our collective positive impact on the Austin community.
WHO WE SERVE
The Austin community and those organizations committed to its betterment
